In my most recent paintings, I am continuing to work on multiple panels, but my focus is now on a sinular subject--stones. By devoting my attention to the humblest of objects, which are elemental, yet individual, I am able to focus on their easily overlooked topography of subtle colors, textures, speckles, and scars.

As I paint, I hold each stone. I look, observe and pay attention. I think about the age of each stone, where it comes from, what forces have acted upon it and the likelihood that its composition is much like mine. Each stone embodies the whole world.
